This painting I have called "True" — is for anyone who strives to find meaning in their life. But wrestles with what exactly that looks like for them.
I find that I am most True to the person I was created to be, when creating paintings is an integral part of my life. It doesn't need to be the end all and be all, but it needs to have a presence that is strong enough to balance out all the other responsibilities which compete for my attention.
Our culture is so full of distractions that can rob us of our true joy. Joy that can only be found in investing into real things. Things that will still matter even a decade or two from now.
And of course those "real things" will be different for every person. Which is what makes life so interesting!
Creating this painting was the most satisfying part of my entire month. Which is what leads me to believe that it is my number one TRUE, "real thing." For me, this was a real thing worth my energy.
