I took the photo that inspired this painting while eating at "Poe's Tavern" on Sullivans Island, SC one sunny afternoon in March.
While waiting for our order to come, I just couldn't resist photographing the snapdragons. They were so glorious and it wasn't even officially spring yet.
So not only were were eating outdoors in March, we were enjoying an amazing display of flowers right on the other side of the fence from our table.
Sullivans Island is a beach community just outside of Charleston, SC. And Poe's Tavern is a restaurant with all their menu items named after Edgar Allen Poe. Be sure to go when the snapdragons are in bloom!
