This piece was created for nothing other than "the love of painting."
I wanted to paint a vibrant piece that focussed on the beauty found in a simple pot of flowers. A piece that reminds me to take time to slow down and really SEE the beauty of creation that is everywhere. (Sometimes I have to look a little bit harder to find it, but no matter the season, there IS beauty to be found.)
I took the photo that inspired this painting during the summer of 2007. It had been sitting in the stack of pictures that I really WANT to paint ever since. After three and a half years, I finally made it a priority, and turned it into a painting.
I'm glad I waited this long because I think my technical skills have come along way since 2007. It turned out exactly how I had hoped it would!
I think this painting is a perfect mix of the more detailed style I've been working on developing for the last year, combined with the crazy bright color palette that I've always loved to use.
I hope the big cheery yellow flowers (called "Rudeckia") help you think of glorious, summer day.
